It’s our one year anniversary and the one thing we don’t have is… fanfare.
We continue our talk about Orange is the New Black and the Netflix scene which of course leads into a chat about the Emmy nominations. Lastly, MAYBE we talk about The Conjuring, MAYBE we don’t. You’ll have to listen to find out. (Spoiler Alert: We do)
Our song of the week is “Anniversary” by Tony, Tone, Toni.
This week we talk about Netflix’s new show, Orange if the New Black and the new frontier of online original programming. It’s not something you’re gonna want to miss.
The song this week is “Would” by Alice and Chains. Why you ask? No reason. Just cause I like it and I felt a little nostalgic for the 90’s.
This week we sit down with popular guest, Manager Sammy Montana. We talk about the most frequently asked questions by writers and get Sammy perspective on a lot of it. Sammy also gives some insight into who to listen to when getting feedback.
This week’s song is stupid. It’s Britney. Ya know…cause Sammy did it again? To quote Chef Gordon Ramsay…the choice “was really quite bland.”
Oh well…can’t all be winners. Enough of that though…let’s get to the show!
This week, we sit down with our very dear friends (and my roommates) Collin and Beth Turner to discuss, compare and rip apart the two “Die Hard in the White House” movies.
If you haven’t seen Olympus Has Fallen or White House Down and want to?
THEN DON’T LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST!
WE WILL BE SPOILING THE SHIT OUT OF BOTH MOVIES!
You have been warned.
That being said… neither film is an exercise in higher thinking, so I’ll repeat myself from the show here: The good guys win, they save the president, shit gets fucked up along the way.
Damn. Were you hoping for each to take a social-political stance on the plight of how the economy fluctuates due to the current foreign policies of the administration?
Well, get over it. These are simply about blowing shit up.
There WILL be a discussion on both scripts as we read them before we watched them. (Keep in mind haters, White House Down sold for 3.5 MILLION dollars… so fuck you and your film snobby righteousness.)
The song this week? Neil Diamond’s “America.” Do you love that? See what we did? Took a song about immigration and made it about… well, you can figure it out 😉
A very special episode where we sit down with one of my oldest friends. Shaun Joyce. Although we do talk movies and about the industry, we do take a pretty large departure from talking about writing and breaking in.
This week Cheryl and I sit down and chat about some of the things going on and the fact that no one knows how to be “normal” at events. Also, we chat about Pretty Woman and how drastic a script can change from First Draft to Screen.
Song this week? Um, Duh. It’s “Oh, Pretty Woman.” You didn’t think we were gonna start getting original on you, were you?
If you missed it, we did record our first edition of Tearin’ it Up! with Manny and Cheryl. Head here to check it out. You can also find the original script for Pretty Woman called $3,000 there. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this gem. It’s worth it.
This week we talk about all the stuff we’re doing as well as some things you should be doing. At the end of the show we chat about the Writers Guild’s new list of 101 greatest written shows of all time. To sort of follow along with us and check it out yourself, head here.
We talk about it on the show, but also want to say it here. Big congrats to John and Lotti Knowles with their success of their film Chastity Bites. Please like them on FaceBook and follow them. You’re not going to want to miss this one. Here’s their FaceBook page.
It’s episode 43 of the podcast and we’re bring you a wrap up of the first Final Draft meet up as well as diving into a deeper philosophical approach to being a writer.
Because we attempted to have a poolside chat, I felt it only right to have LMAFO’s “Party Rock Anthem” as this week’s song.
Keepin’ it short and sweet this week…off to the show!
Till next week…
There are a million ways into the industry, here's one of them.
