Episode 62: “Beginnings and Endings…”

We’re back!

Sorry, totally didn’t mean to take a week off, but sometimes stuff happens. This week, Cheryl and I talk about Pilots and Finales.

We took the time off to watch some of the best pilots and finales and TV history. It’s quite an amazing experiment and I can’t recommend it enough if you want to write for TV.

That being said, let’s get to the show!

till next week…

Episode 61: “All TV, All the Time…”

Welcome to another episode of Breakin’ In!

This week, Cheryl and I turn our attention to the TV game. Specifically the Anti-Hero and the difference between network dramas and cable dramas.

Our song this week is Chevelle’s “Send the Pain Below.”

WARNING: IF you have any desire to ever watch Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Shield, The Sopranos, LOST, Night Court, MASH, Friends or Six Feet Under and DON”T want to know how those shows end… skip this week (but please still tell your friends).

NOTE: OBVIOUSLY we don’t know how Breaking Bad will end… but we spend a LOT of time speculating. Hope you’re caught up!

Now… on to the show!

till next week…

Episode 60: “Breakin’ In with John Conroy!”

Welcome to another episode of Breakin’ In!

This week we sit down with a man of many hats… John Conroy. He’s in PR, a performer, an improv coach, a director, a producer and a writer. If there’s one thing you can take away from John is that there are many things you can do to survive in this industry and you shouldn’t close the door to any of them.

As we always say… there are a million ways in to the industry…

But enough about that, on to the show!

till next week…

Episode 57: “Breakin’ In with Ryan Engle!”

Hey Everyone… Welcome to the show this week.

This week we sit down with good friend Ryan Engle! Ryan has become quite the rocketing success in the past couple of years and has a great story how he got there. There’s a little discussion in the intro of the show and if any of you want proof, Google Ryan’s name. You’ll see what we’re talking about.

The song this week is: “The Baddest Man Alive” by The Black Keys & RZA off of The Man With The Iron Fists Soundtrack.

Enough! Let’s get to the show!!

till next week…

Episode 56: “Little Studio Films vs. Breakin’ In! – UPDATES”

Hey everyone!

A lot of people have been asking us what’s been going on with our “war” with Little Studio Films. Well here’s the updates. The most interesting thing is how many people have come forward with more stories about LSF. None of which have been good.

Our song this week? Public Enemy’s classic hit, “Fight the Power.”

Let’s not waste any more time… I know you want to know what’s been going on with this… let’s get to it!

till next week…

Episode 54: “Breakin’ In with Steve Barnett! – Part 1”

Hey everyone!

This week we sit down with a great friend and mentor, producer Steve Barnett. We ended up talking to Steve for about two hours so we’re gonna split it up into two parts. Part one is Steve’s story on how he started in the industry and how he worked his way up the studio ladder. We cut the story right before he talks about working on 300. Next week will pick up from 300 and continue on to the present.

This week’s song is Kanye’s “POWER.” Cause…well, it fits.

But enough about that… let’s get to the show!

till next week…

Episode 53: “Little Studio Films vs. Breakin’ In!”

This week we go to war over what’s ethical and what’s not. An LA Times article came out on Thursday condemning a small company called Little Studio Films. It just so happens that I knew one of the owners. Once I shared the article on FaceBook, the threats came a rollin’ in.

It started with co-owner Alexia Melocchi sending me this:

Manny you have no right to defame a fellow peer without facts our Attorney will be sending you a letter as also this is going to the editor and legal department with complete discredit of allegations which you are promoting as facts and the true story behind it which are subject to defamation and libel lawsuit. So before spreading slander get the facts. Shame on you .

It then continued with a letter from their attorney and several messages from her mother, other owner, Alexandra Alia Yacovlef.

It didn’t take much effort on our part to dig up some info…

So it’s with great pleasure that I share with you some things that we’ve found out.

If Little Studio films wants to take us on as well as the LA times, we say bring it on…

Till next week…
