Episode 35: “Breakin’ In with Mike De Trana!”

Welcome!

To another episode of Breakin’ In!  This week we sit down with uber manager Mike De Trana who isn’t afraid to drop some serious wisdom for writers.

Mike is also producing a small film that needs your help to get it finished.  Check out their Kickstarter campaign here: Kickstarter.com/stompingground.  And also check out the website for the flick here: irrationalfilms.com/stompingground/.

This week’s song is Korn’s “Y’all Want a Single?”  Cause…well…do the math on that one 🙂

Enough chit chat!  Let’s get to the show!

Till next week…

  1. Seldom have a learned so much from somebody whose taste in movies (“Saw”, “DH: Get off my Lawn”, et cetera) is so different than mine! (I guess there is a lesson in there somewhere.) Even the stuff that wasn’t so pleasant to hear (such as how intense gender lead-bias is, and the realities of foreign sales) had the definite ring of truth… truth that is vital to know.

I’m glad to hear that Manny is pondering checking out the Veronica Mars series. If you’re like me, you’ll be hooked within a few episodes. (If not, you probably won’t ever be.) Caveat: Some of the major (season-long) arcs didn’t quite satisfy. But if memory serves correctly, the individual episodes (and several-episode arcs) almost always did.

  2. No shit, one of your best podcast ever. I especially liked Mike the Manager’s reaffirmation that you better have more than one good piece of material when you get in the room.

  3. Mike has been my manager for fifty years now (Frank Sinatra introduced us), and this was the first time I realized that he was funny! So funny that I will now write my nuns on the run comedy and ask him to star.
