Episode 29: “Breakin’ In with Johnny Silver!”

Hey everyone…welcome to another episode of Breakin’ In!

This week we have a very special guest.  A long time friend of ours… he’s a producer… he’s a screenwriter… he’s a master at the distribution model… and he’s a super cool dude!

It’s Johnny Silver!

For those who don’t remember, Johnny is actually one of three writers who recently sold their script Final Girl, which is in post as we speak.  The trailer just came out for Final Girl, please check it out here.  It stars Abigail Breslin and Wes Bentley!  Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McRjP4si7bk

And to celebrate having him on the show and his go go go attitude… our song for this week is Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode.”

Enough about that… let’s get to the show!

Till next week…

  1. “Write for the marketplace, not the trend.”

Outstanding Podcast! Now that I thoroughly understand what a “high-concept 1.5 million dollar contained thriller” actually is, and why they are “selling like hotcakes”, I feel like I have a much better chance of writing a screenplay that will actually sell (and be made)!

The mention of “Winter’s Bone” helped tremendously as unfortunately I’m not into horror. Though I do like many of the classic Hitchcock dramatic thrillers, especially “North by Northwest”.

    Johnny B. Goode indeed!

  2. Last night I rented and watched “Winter’s Bone” and it was excellent!

If this is an example of the kind of screenplay we should be writing (1.5 million dollar contained thriller), I am so there!!!
